Juan Javier "Jay" Carrizales Jay Carrizales passed away on
Mar. 5—Juan Javier "Jay" Carrizales Jay Carrizales passed away on January 7, 2025 at age 71. He decided to become a pilot during his first airplane ride at age 5. Graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1975, he flew the P-3 Orion in anti-submarine warfare operations throughout the world. After his 1996 Navy retirement, he became a commercial airline pilot. He retired a second time in 2018 as a JetBlue captain on an Airbus 320. Jay is survived by his wife Deborah and daughter Sarah. Memorial services will be held on March 8, 2025 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Lomas Blvd NE at 1 p.m.
